Guam's Matao will Now Face Cambodia's Angkor Warriors in Playoff

Phnom Penh: Guam Men's National Team, the Matao will now face Cambodia's Angkor Warriors in a soccer playoff for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Final Qualification Round.

The first of the two matches which is being held at Bahrain will be played at 8:30 p.m. (Bahrain time) which will be early Sunday in Cambodia at 12:30 a.m. The match will be played at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Manama.

Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, the Cambodian team has managed to successfully travel to Bahrain ahead of the schedule.

Matao captain, Jason Cunliffe, earlier said that he expects an improved Cambodia team to square off against them in the round. The two sides will face off for the right to advance to the third round of the qualifiers.

The top 11 teams from the third round will join the 13 countries that have already qualified for the finals namely: China, Syria, Iran, Qatar, Japan, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Iraq, Vietnam, Levanon, Australia and Saudi Arabia.
